    Bench notes - purfling channel + varnish work

    I am asked often how the channel look like before the purfling is inlayed.  Here are four photos where you can see the channel and some of the antiquing process.  I use transaprencies to make a map of the areas that are to be antiqued on the instrument.  In one photo you will notice that the instrument is varnished completely as new and then antiqued.
