Guarneri del Gesú 1734 Scroll
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 8:19AM Every time I have this Guarneri violin in the shop I wish I could make a mental note of how this scroll is carved. It is delicate and elegant in a way that is not necessarely associated with the work of Guarneri del Gesú. See Ole Bull. This violin is the twin of the Kreisler and a classic example of del Gesú's work. Yesterday I shot this simple video, it is in HD and is best seen at full screen. You can select the 720 resolution from the box at the bottom of the screen and expand to full screen (bottom right).
This video will serve me as reference next time I carve a Guarneri scroll. In an effort to make more information about the classic instruments made in Cremona available, I encourage you in sharing this video with others. I have made it "public".
