How to take violin photos
Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 8:23AM I believe Jan Roehrmann to be one of the best instrument photographer today. The secret to a beautiful photo is lighting. Lighiting can be expensive, here is a useful article from the auction house Tarisio where you can read about different equipment that can be used. Jan Roehrmann has been taking photos of violins for several publications over many years you can find some stunning example of his image taking here. For any instrument lover and serious violin maker the Stradivari is a priceless book to own.
I was lucky to see Jan at work both in Cremona, Boston, and at the Library of Congress in Washington DC. At the end of September I will have a chance to interview him at the Mondomusica trade expo, I will ask him about his technique and insight on his recent publishing experience.
